CJC Is The First Junior College In Singapore To Use The System

This year, the Catholic Junior College Creativity & Talent Week has several new features. Firstly, CJC is working with the National Computer System ( NCS ) in launching the Panorama System of project work. Secondly, the College is intensifying its IT Programmes by expanding the use of IT in many of the projects, especially through the Panorama System. Thirdly, the College is providing the students early exposure and practice in organised projects to provide the linkage with the expected project component in the forth coming university admission criteria.

The Panorama System of project work is a joint effort between the NCS and CJC and seeks to incorporate the following elements:

  • It is a showcase of the students' initiative.
  • Each student's contribution can be identified and assessed by the system.
  • The students are challenged to engage in thinking skills of a higher order.
  • The teacher acts as a guide and facilitator.

The other related objectives of the Creativity & Talent Week are :

  • To provide the climate and motivation for independent research and creative thinking.
  • To instil the importance of team spirit and leadership skills.
  • To widen their academic and mental horizon beyond their personal experience.

The Opening Ceremony will be held on Friday, 19 February 1999 at 9:00 am at the College concourse. The Guest of Honour is Mr Bernard Chen, Chairman, Catholic Junior College Board of Management.

About CJC PANORAMA

CJC PANORAMA is part of Campus Connect's suite of products, the first pedagogical system of its kind. It is a system that allows teachers and students to collaborate in a structured manner.

CJC Panorama has come about as a result of the impending change in the local University admission criteria that assesses students' performance in project work besides the normal examination results.
This system is a product that possesses a unique set of features. It is a display of technology that provides a complete tracking system for both students and teachers. With the help of National Computer Systems, CJC is now equipped with the necessary hardware as well as training for both teachers and students to reap the full benefits of CJC Panorama.

PANORAMA is a framework of multimedia and educational services. Earlier, NCS had set up a digital library for the National Library Board and Singapore Polytechnic. NCS has now successfully implemented project collaboration for CJC.

NCS is honoured to be the chosen IT service provider for CJC's educational packages.
