SCS announced today, the appointment of Mr Robert KOH (44) as its new Executive Vice President (International). Koh, who assumed this position on 1 November 2001, will be developing SCS' business in the North Asia markets with a focus on China and Hong Kong. One of Koh's main tasks is to increase SCS' visibility in the region as a key player in the ICT industry and to expand the scope of SCS' products and services. Koh, an SCS veteran of some 16 years, had spent three years between 1993 and 1996 to manage SCS' accounts in China and Hong Kong.
Koh first began his career at SCS as a systems engineer. In 1984, Koh started the Software System Division (SS). From 1987 to 1996, Koh managed the Customer Engineering (CE), Systems Software (SS) and Computer Recovery Centre (CRC) in his position as the General Manager for Systems and Resources.
Between 1993 and 1996, Koh was SCS' General Manager for North Asia, where he had been specifically responsible for the company's business in Hong Kong and China.
In 1996, Koh started a SCS joint venture company, ST-Straco Pte Ltd, where he was Managing Director until his appointment at SCS.
Said Koh, of the challenges before him, "Besides relying on our organic growth, I will also be looking at acquisitions to help grow the business in China and Hong Kong."
Koh is married and has two daughters aged 10 and 13. He enjoys golf, badminton and likes reading subjects related to Chinese History.
