The Board of Singapore Computer Systems (SCS) Ltd is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Pek Yew Chai as President & CEO SCS and Director on its board on 16 Aug 2003. He will succeed Mr Lim Joo Hong who is stepping down due to health reasons effective the same date. Joo Hong will also cease to be a Director on the SCS Board but will remain with the company as Senior Advisor to ensure smooth transition and to assist in strategic investment related projects.

Mr Pek Yew Chai, 43, currently the Chief Operating Officer, first joined SCS in 1989 as a sales manager and rose through the ranks to become EVP, International in 1999. Between 1999 and 2001, he was the Chief Operating Officer of Mediaring.com Ltd. He was Managing Director overseeing Siemens Business Services' Singapore business from 2001 to 2003. Yew Chai rejoined SCS as Chief Operating Officer in Jan 2003.

Yew Chai obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical & Biomedical Engineering from the University of Southern California in 1985. After graduation, he joined the Ministry of Defence and was holding the position of Project Engineer when he left the ministry to join SCS in 1989. He was with SCS for more than 10 years where he held various key positions during the period from July 1989 to October 1999. His last appointment in SCS was Executive Vice President (International) where he was responsible for managing SCS' overseas business. He was also Director for Sales and managed SCS' Brunei operations and the company's outsourcing business. He also managed SCS' business in systems software, hardware, and professional manpower services.

Yew Chai left SCS in 1999 to join Mediaring.com Ltd as COO. In 2001, he joined Siemens Business Services Pte Ltd as Managing Director overseeing Siemens Business Services' Singapore business which provides consulting services, systems integration and infrastructure services to outsourcing of the customer's entire business operations
