Main Board-listed Singapore Computer Systems Limited (SCS), Singapore's home-grown leading IT services provider, is showcasing its healthcare IT solutions at the CommunicAsia 2006, one of the most successful communications event in Asia since 1979, from 20-23 June.

SCS is a regional healthcare solutions provider focusing on increasing the competitiveness and services quality of healthcare organisations through the use of IT. The company's trusted healthcare IT services include a home-grown suite of solutions comprising its flagship integrated Hospital Information System (iHIS), enterprise integrated Pharmacy System (iPharm) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).

SCS' healthcare solutions are installed in several Singapore hospitals and polyclinics such as Mount Alvernia Hospital and Alexandra Hospital, and are built together with inputs from medical practitioners.  These solutions have been replicated to China's Beijing Tongren Hospital and Shanghai Renji Hospital, where they are localised to suit the Chinese requirements and hospital workflow. Localisation was performed by the SCS team in Chengdu, China, where it has a software development centre to leverage the large pool of Chinese IT professionals.

integrated Hospital Information System (iHIS)

iHIS is an enterprise hospital information system designed to be used in single, group or multi-location hospitals and clinics all from a single application and database instance. The simplicity and flexibility of iHIS enables healthcare providers to quickly and efficiently manage patients' visits and financial transactions.

Due to the simple but full-featured user interface, users can quickly and effectively use the system leading to greater operational effectiveness. The seamless integration of the various core systems in iHIS leads to a much improved and higher quality patient experience.

enterprise integrated Pharmacy System (iPharm)

iPharm is an enterprise integrated pharmacy system designed to be used in large scale, group or multi-location pharmacies all from a single application and database instance.

The support for multiple pharmacies within a single central system enables huge economies-of-scale savings for IT operations and support. The system reduces patient waiting times at the pharmacies and streamlines drug preparation and packing.

Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

EMR is an enterprise electronic medical records system designed to be used in group or multi-location hospitals and clinics all from a single application and database instance. The focus is on managing the detailed structured clinical information and also improving overall patient health.

The system supports user-defined clinical data entry templates. By entering this detailed clinical data into the system, users are able to have access to the complete patient EMR as well as a valuable source of data for trending and analysis.

Standards & Interoperability

All SCS healthcare products include support for HL7 v2.3 and can be easily integrated with other systems. They comply with many open standards and are built in the J2EE platform leveraging the latest industry software components and best practices for enterprise java development to ensure scalability and availability. The applications are thin-client browser-based leading to a low total-cost-of-ownership.
