Broadband Infrastructure for Government (BIG)
NCS developed the BIG project to improve data connectivity for government agencies. BIG provides an “Anywhere Computing Environment”, facilitating easy and secure access to government information resources anytime, anywhere, using any media. More than 150 remote sites are currently connected to BIG.
BIG taps the latest technologies in the areas of:
- Virtual Private Network (for secure data traffic)
- Broadband connectivity (through ATM)
- Multi-Protocol Label Switching (to enable scalable connection)
Public Services Infrastructure (PSi)
NCS played a key role as the consortium leader and systems integrator in the development of Singapore's PSi, and was awarded the e-Gov Award 2002 for Infocomm Development Authority of Singaore (IDA)’s e-Citizen Portal. PSi is a government-wide core infrastructure that facilitates the seamless and rapid deployment of online public services to citizens and businesses anytime, anywhere.
Built using industry-standard technologies, the infrastructure is portable and interoperable with other government systems. It facilitates the delivery of secure application services, e-payment mechanisms, and electronic data exchange. NCS manages the PSi with round-the-clock helpdesk services for developers and systems administrators of government agencies, as well as provides maintenance and facility management services.
We also conduct IDA-certified training programmes for government agencies and appointed vendors. e-Service consultancy services are provided to software developers assigned to build PSi applications, ensuring consistency in the development of such applications.
