Microsoft and NCS announce key Windows Azure partnership for Asia-Pacific market
Singapore, Thu Nov 25 08:37:00 GMT 2010
NCS and Microsoft today announced a Windows Azure Partnership for the Asia-Pacific.
The partnership will reinforce NCS’ commitment to the Microsoft Windows Azure Platform. Under the deal, NCS will train 1,000 developers on the Windows Azure platform over next three years. NCS has also produced the first Windows Azure Most Valuable Professional (MVP) in Southeast Asia.
A Microsoft Gold Certified Partner in the region for more than a decade, NCS is the first Strategic Azure Partner to be announced for the Asia-Pacific. NCS’ suite of cloud services, currently the most comprehensive in the market, makes NCS an ideal partner for the Microsoft Windows Azure.
Cloud technology can radically shorten the time and cost needed to introduce new, innovative services that are otherwise difficult to realise using traditional infrastructure models. One example is the real-time broadcast of the 2010 Singapore National Day Parade to some 100,000 online viewers, where NCS used Windows Azure technology to stream 3 terabytes of video data within just three hours. Another example is exCite TV, an integrated consumer video service bundled as part of SingTel’s next-generation network (NGN) broadband service package in Singapore.
Well-implemented cloud systems can also lower operational risk, upfront capital investments and overheads. Said Andrew Pickup, Chief Operating Officer, Microsoft Asia-Pacific, “As business leaders in Asia prepare for economic leadership, they are looking to Cloud computing to help better manage risk, uncertainty and cost, enabling them to focus on what’s important for their business – growth. Microsoft understands that, and we look to forge strong relationships with strategic partners that are aligned to that vision.”
NCS was the first company in Southeast Asia to offer a full set of cloud computing services, including enterprise-class IT infrastructure and pay-per-use services. The company offers a Cloud Readiness assessment programme to help customers plan and design delivery models relevant to their business, while incorporating the best of industry practices.
Ms Rachel Goh, Group General Manager for NCS Business Applications Services, said, “NCS is committed to Microsoft Cloud Strategy via the Windows Azure Platform. We are excited to bring forward our partnership to the next level across the Asia-Pacific by capitalising on our success model in the region.”
Mr Pickup added, “NCS is a company that understands the needs of Asian business, the capabilities of the Cloud, and is focused on putting the right technologies in the hands of our customers to help them be successful.”
