NCS becomes Quantum's first top-tier channel partner spanning all of Asia-Pacific
Singapore, August 2, 2012
Quantum Corp., a proven global expert in data protection and big data management, and NCS, a leading infocommunications technology (ICT) service provider, today signed a Memorandum of Agreement expanding their partnership beyond Singapore to serve customers across the Asia-Pacific region. NCS will become Quantum’s first top-tier channel partner spanning the entire region, and will incorporate Quantum’s line of data protection and big data management products into its solution offerings including DXi® backup and deduplication appliances, vmPRO™ virtualization solutions, StorNext® data management software and appliances, and Scalar® tape libraries.
Today’s organizations are facing an environment of significant change. The economic value of data is increasing, with more data being stored for longer periods of time and reused for new analysis, revenue creation opportunities and scientific breakthroughs. New technologies and architectures such as deduplication, virtualization and cloud are also taking hold that can offer better ways of managing and protecting data but also present new challenges. In addition, IT continues to face resource and spending constraints. All of this highlights the importance of storage solutions that enable customers to align data value and costs over the entire data lifecycle, easily transition from today’s technologies and environments to those of tomorrow and save money.
“NCS has been working with Quantum for many years in Singapore. With this, we can now bring forth our synergy to markets where NCS has touchpoints. The aggressive growth of data will bring challenges as well as opportunities to our customers both locally and overseas, in terms of managing data and deriving insights to make better business decisions. We recognize that the collaboration will complement our suite of capabilities to meet the new demands of our customers as we look to expand our solution offerings through leveraging new technologies such as analytics, mobility and sensing technologies,” said Vincent Lim, Vice President, NCS.
This partnership underscores NCS’ Solutions for an Urbanised Future (SURF), an NCS initiative which integrates new technologies to bring intelligence and enhanced connectivity in its solution offerings for government agencies and enterprises. SURF incorporates technologies such as mobility, big data and analytics, machine-to-machine communications, sensing technology and social networking technologies in solution implementations in education, healthcare, transport as well as other key industry sectors.
“We are excited about expanding our partnership with NCS to serve the data protection and big data management needs of more customers. The agreement we signed today also reflects Quantum’s strategy of continuing to build and strengthen our channel relationships across the globe, and we look forward to working with NCS to aggressively grow Quantum’s presence in this key region,” added Mr. Ted Stinson, Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales, at Quantum.
As part of the agreement, Quantum will develop a Centre of Excellence (COE) in NCS Singapore, providing training and necessary skill sets to enable NCS to support the regional business. The COE will make it easier for NCS to support both local customers intending to expand overseas and regional customers seeking relevant support as NCS can now tap into the COE for the necessary support.
In addition to Singapore, the expanded Quantum-NCS partnership will initially cover the Greater China, Australia and ASEAN markets, with other markets to follow over time.About Quantum
