Singapore, August 8, 2014

As a lead up to the SG50 celebration, NCS will put together a chronicle of IT Transformation Story to commemorate and highlight Singapore’s journey towards a Safe and Smart City with a book launch and Charity auction

NCS, an established home-grown brand and a leading information technology (IT) service provider in Singapore and across the Asia Pacific region, is launching a year-long celebratory activity on Singapore’s 49th National Day with an employee engagement programme and an IT Transformation Story initiative leading  to Singapore’s 50th Birthday celebration next year. The initiatives aim to excite and instil values of the Singapore spirit amongst employees, enterprise customers and citizens on how information technology has helped transformed Singapore into a Safe and Smart City over the past 50 years.

To kick start these initiatives, the biggest ever employees’ engagement programme involving an island-wide race to significant national monuments, heritage sites and public galleries will be held on 8 August, 2014. More than 1,000 participants comprising of NCS’ diverse employees in Singapore will be competing in the ‘Amazing Adventure’ themed race. The race leverages on social media, location-based technologies and mobility applications such as eNGage, a NCS’ proprietary collaborative engagement application and mytransport.sg, an award winning app created by NCS which offers real-time land transportation information in Singapore as well as beConnect NOW!, an end-to-end platform which manage different aspects of an event including registration and broadcasting of information to help participants decipher clues to various remarkable Singapore historic locations and customers’ sites. The teams will be racing using public transport to locations which revolve around the services and solutions that NCS has implemented for its customers. The team with the highest scores accumulated from the race, coupled with the best in-house innovative exhibits will emerge as the ultimate winner for the day.

In celebration of SG50, NCS will pay tribute to the nation by organising a series of IT Transformation Story of Singapore across print, digital and social media platforms, including crowdsourcing to engage the Public and garner responses on the technologies that Singaporeans grew up with. Having developed numerous innovative IT solutions which revolutionise Singapore citizens’ lives over the years, NCS will put together a chronicle of IT Transformation Story on how IT impacts and shapes the daily life of a Singapore citizen, featuring iconic Safe and Smart City IT developments that have evolved over the past 50 years and spotlight on Chief Information Officers’ (CIOs) outlook on the transformation journey of Singapore. The published book is intended to be donated to the library and put up for charity auction in 2015.

Chia Wee Boon, CEO of NCS said, “As NCS plays an integral part of Singapore’s IT evolution, we are excited to celebrate National Day and especially SG50 in a big way to showcase how information technologies has transformed our citizens’ lives in Singapore over the years.
