NCS Is The Largest IT Service Provider In Singapore, With The Addition Of SAPL As A 100% Wholly Owned Subsidiary

Singapore, October 1, 2002

NCS to acquire SingTel Aeradio as a fully owned subsidiary: Combined entity will make NCS a leading IT & engineering services provider in the region.

Singapore Telecommunications Ltd (SingTel) will merge two of its IT subsidiaries - the National Computer Systems Pte Ltd (NCS) and SingTel Aeradio Pte Ltd (SAPL) through a transfer of its shares in SAPL to NCS. Upon completion of this transfer, targeted before the end of this year, SAPL will be a fully owned subsidiary of NCS.

The combined entity will make NCS a leading IT & engineering services provider in the region with a total annual revenue of $600 million and an IT talent pool of 2,800 staff. NCS is headed by its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr Lee Kwok Cheong while Ms Leow Ai Chyn, a veteran in the IT and engineering industry, has been appointed CEO of SAPL.

NCS is the leading systems integration and outsourcing services provider with operations in Singapore and offices in six countries in the Asia Pacific. Its key customers span many industries such as education, banking and finance, healthcare, manufacturing, telecommunications, transportation and the public sector.

The consolidation of resources will enable NCS and SAPL to reap the benefits of economies of scale and provide a broader suite of services. Customers will be able to enjoy seamless end-to-end infocomm and engineering offerings in all the markets they are in.

"The complementary strengths of NCS and SAPL are exceptional. We will use the best of our joint competencies, technologies, products, channels, industrial focus and talents to grow the organisation beyond Singapore and into the Asia-Pacific region. Together we can better support our customers and be well positioned to serve new customers and markets." said Mr Lee.

As a leading IT and communications engineering services provider in Singapore, NCS is ahead of its competitors in terms of range of services and capabilities. Other than IT consultancy, applications and development and managed services, NCS will also offer a wide range of communications engineering solutions. These include consultancy, implementation and facility management of airport system, satellite communication system, radar system, radio frequency communication system, telecommunication infrastructure, enterprise infrastructure, multimedia video conferencing and smart home technologies.

Apart from Singapore's Changi airport, SAPL has been working towards providing airport consultancy services to new airports in the region. SAPL is also bringing to this region its telecommunications infrastructure building expertise, such as constructing transmission systems for mobile networks. It will continue to leverage on SingTel's global operations and NCS' presence in the Asia-Pacific region to grow its business beyond Singapore.

Ms Leow said, "We will leverage on NCS' systems integration and outsourcing capabilities, and its regional presence to penetrate new markets. Given the potential of the NCS-SAPL synergy, our customers can be assured of high service levels. With the support of the staff, we are committed to deliver what we have promised our customers and partners."
