NCS receives Gold Singapore H.E.A.L.T.H. award for second year

Singapore, October 5, 2006

Singapore’s Health Promotion Board gives national recognition to NCS for its commendable Workplace Health programmes.

NCS Group, a leading regional information technology and communications engineering service provider in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions, was awarded Gold status under Singapore’s H.E.A.L.T.H. (Helping Employees Achieve Life-Time Health) Awards.

This is the second Gold award presented to NCS by the Health Promotion Board for commendable Workplace Health Promotion (WHP) programmes.  Companies are judged on criteria relating to programme positioning and organisation, planning, evaluation and results as well as comprehensiveness of their workplace health programmes.

Dr Chong Yoke Sin, NCS Group Chief Executive Officer, said “NCS is pleased to receive the Gold H.E.A.L.T.H. award.  At NCS, we believe that people are our greatest assets.  As such, we strive to not only develop staff to their fullest potential but also provide a work-life harmony environment for staff to develop their personal well-being.  This is reflected in our “personal excellence” core value as well as our many work-place health programmes.  These include yoga classes, health talks, on-site childcare centre, mothercare room, Employee Assistance Programme and NCS Kopi Tiam.”

NCS’ management team actively supports these work-life harmony initiatives by helping to set policies, allocating dedicated resources and participating in the activities.   At NCS, these work-place health programme are planned and organised by a group of like-minded people who come together to form a self-managed Health team.  These people, coming from different parts of the organisation have a common passion to promote a harmonious work-place health environment within NCS.

“NCS’ work-place health programme extends beyond the workplace environment.” Dr Chong added.  “NCS has linked with Ang Mo Kio Family Service Centres since 2001 to take part in programmes such as volunteering for needy elders or organising parties and outings for underprivileged children.”

Since the announcement of the Health Charter by Health Promotion Board in 1999, NCS has been an avid supporter of the Workplace Health Promotion (WHP) programmes.  Through these initiatives, NCS staff improve their fitness levels, manage stress and improve relationships with their colleagues.

On the company level, NCS also benefits from having happier staff and in turn higher productivity.
