LTA's e-Services@ONE.MOTORING Receives Over 68,000 transactions On First Day Of Operation

Singapore, March 1, 2006

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) experienced overwhelming response for its new e-Services@ONE.MOTORING launched yesterday.

We designed the system to handle three times the average daily transaction volumes, and the system was successfully load-tested many times using these projected transaction volumes.

Our analysis indicates that the public performed multiple transactions and the higher volumes arose primarily due to a large increase in enquiries (mainly for enquiries on PARF and COE rebates) and extended usage of some of the new e-services (asset information display and applications for vehicle deregistration).

To handle this surge in demand evident from 10.00am yesterday, LTA opened up ten additional service counters at its office at Sin Ming Drive, and NCS increased the capacity of the system.

We fine-tuned the system at 11.15am, and by 12.30pm yesterday, the system was functioning normally.  By the end of the day, all transactions had been processed and the system has continued to function smoothly.

We were overwhelmed by the level of public interest in our new e-Services.  We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the longer than average waiting times for walk-in customers at LTA’s office at Sin Ming Drive, and those who were unable to access the new e-Services yesterday.

LTA would also like to reassure vehicle owners that all penalties for those whose road tax expires between 24 February and 4 March will be waived if they renew their road tax by 4 March 2006.  Vehicle owners who are affected should make payment at LTA’s office at Sin Ming Drive or at any of the 50 road tax collection centres. This penalty waiver is not applicable to payments made via AXS machines, or by NETS or Diners at collection centres.

LTA and NCS will continue to work closely to review the system and to ensure the continued smooth operation of the system.

About e-Services@ONE.MOTORING

Development of e-Services@ONE.MOTORING started after the contract to enhance LTA’s 23-year-old vehicle registration and licensing computer system was awarded to NCS Group in September 2002.

Leveraging on Internet technology, the new enhanced system provides LTA’s customers with a wide range of one-stop, fully integrated services for vehicle-related enquiries and transactions.

With e-Services@ONE.MOTORING, motor industry users, vehicle owners and members of the public will enjoy wider and more convenient access to LTA’s services.
