National Day Parade 2003 Tickets
Singapore, Mon Jun 02 06:40:00 GMT 2003
Tickets for this year’s National Day Parade (NDP) will be distributed through balloting. The NDP Executive Committee (EXCO), in partnership with SingTel, National Computer Systems, 1-Net, Sun MicroSystems, InterAuct!, Quantiq and AXS Info Comm has developed a system which allows the public to apply for tickets using their National Registration Identity Card (NRIC) number. The public can apply for NDP 2003 tickets through Short Message Service (SMS) or telephone. They can also apply for the tickets at NDP website or at any AXS Stations located islandwide (The locations of the AXS Stations can be obtained from www.axs.com.sg).
The NDP EXCO will select the successful applications through an electronic ballot. The successful applicants will be notified by either telephone, SMS or Internet.
The NDP EXCO has evaluated a number of methods of ticket distribution. The balloting system was selected as it is user-friendly for the public. The public can apply for tickets through various means which are easily accessible to the majority of Singaporeans.
There is no change to the existing criteria to qualify for NDP tickets. Applicants must be either a Singaporean Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident. He or she must be 12 years old and above in the year 2003. Each person can apply for EITHER
a. Two tickets for NDP 2003 on 9 Aug 2003 (Sat) OR
b. Four tickets for NDP 2003 on 9 Aug 2003 (Sat).
The probability of being successful in applying for two tickets will be two times greater than that in applying for four tickets. Applications that are not selected in the ballot for NDP tickets will be considered for the ticket balloting for the NDP Preview on 26 Jul 2003 (Sat).
Those who wish to attend NDP 2003 can apply for tickets through either SMS, telephone, NDP website or at any AXS Station from 4 to 19 Jun 03. After 19 Jun 03, the NDP EXCO will conduct a ballot in the presence of auditors from PricewaterhouseCoopers Singapore. Successful applicants will be notified from 22 Jun 03 onwards. They can collect their tickets at the Ticket Collection Centre located at Far East Square (refer to map) from 28 Jun to 9 Jul 03.
To apply for two tickets, a person can either call 1900 112 1382, or send his or her NRIC number via SMS to 38382. To apply for four tickets, a person can either call 1900 112 1384, or send his or her NRIC number via SMS to 38384. The applicant will have to pay an administrative fee of 20 cents for each 1900 call or SMS application. Alternatively, the person can apply by submitting an electronic application form at the NDP website at any AXS Station. Internet applications and applications through AXS Stations are free. Each NRIC number is valid for ONE application ONLY.
Assistance for Applications
In order to help those without access to the various modes of application, the NDP EXCO, together with the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore, has arranged to provide free Internet facilities at 22 eClubs, 15 libraries and 3 One Learning Place centres located islandwide. e-Ambassadors will be present at these locations on the weekends during the application period (7 & 8 Jun 03 and 14 & 15 Jun 03) to assist the public in submitting their applications electronically.
The public can also obtain NDP 2003 tickets through contests on the NDP website and in the local print and broadcast media. For any enquiries or feedback, the public can call 1800-NDP 2003 (1800-637-2003) or visit the NDP website.
