Singapore, Thu Jan 02 06:43:00 GMT 2003
New Name to Embrace NCS Brand and More Accurately Reflect Business Focus.
SingTel Aeradio Pte Ltd has been renamed to embrace the brand name of its parent company, National Computer Systems Pte Ltd (NCS), a leading provider of IT and engineering services in the Asia-Pacific. It will now be known as NCS Communications Engineering Pte. Ltd. (NCS Comms Engg).
Over the years, the company has grown beyond its original commitment of providing aeronautical services. The new name better reflects the company's current competencies and business offerings in communications engineering, and its vision to be the trendsetter in the provision of infrastructure, communications and engineering services.
Explaining the name change, Mr Lee Kwok Cheong NCS' Chief Executive Officer said, "The renaming allows us to offer a unified brand proposition to our customers. NCS Comms Engg and other business units in NCS can tap on the synergies of cross-selling and bundling of IT and engineering services and solutions that meet the complete technology needs of our customers. Ultimately, our aim is to enhance customer service and support."
NCS Comms Engg started by providing aeronautical facilities management and consultancy services to the first civil airport at Kallang in the 1950s. It has also built a reputation as a leading data networking and telecommunications integrator since its merger with the Data Networking and Video Conferencing arms of the former Telecom Equipment back in 1999 and subsequently with NCS in October 2002.
With a staff strength of 450 and revenue of S$185 million in FY2001, NCS Comms Engg offers a wide range of communications engineering solutions and services. These include consultancy, facilities management, airport systems, telecommunications infrastructure, enterprise infrastructure, multimedia video conferencing and smart-home technologies.
Ms Leow Ai Chyn, NCS Comms Engg's Chief Executive Officer said, "The new company name more aptly reflects our current business focus and reinforces NCS Comms Engg's position as the communications and engineering business unit of NCS. The NCS brand will help us enter new accounts and accelerate the company's push into regional markets. We will leverage on NCS' comprehensive business solutions, outsourcing capabilities and Asia-Pacific presence to create a unique value proposition for customers."
