Paya Lebar Constituents Benefit from Connecting the Community Call For Collaboration (CFC)
Singapore, September 8, 2004
Paya Lebar Online, a consortium comprising of NCS Pte. Ltd. (NCS), a leading IT and engineering services provider in the region, Paya Lebar Citizens Consultative Committee (CCC), Health Connect Pte Ltd and Welch Allyn Pte Ltd, has secured a successful bid for the Infocomm Development Authority’s (IDA) CFC for Connecting the Community. The solution, which benefits both business and the Paya Lebar constituents, comprises of electronic advertising via e-Billboards, remote health diagnostic monitoring services and a community portal. All these will be implemented by the NCS led consortium.
Businesses will be able to access low cost advertising via the e-Billboard as well as utilise the community portal to make announcements on promotions. Residents will not only have access to common portal activities such as forums and community announcements, they can also access a preventive health check database.
Madam Cynthia Phua, Member of Parliament (MP) for Aljunied GRC commented, “Our older residents are not left out in this IT project. They will greatly benefit from the Remote Diagnostic Monitoring System, where they can store the data on their medical screening for regular monitoring. Also, we will help the business community with our e-Billboard at Kovan City where they can advertise their services at competitive rates to reach out to the residents.”
The e-Billboard and the Community Portal will be used to further publicise health screenings at either Community Centres or Recreation Centres within Paya Lebar. Health equipment provided by Welch Allyn will be used to take four main health readings consisting of temperature, blood test, oxygen level (SPO2) and pulse reading. These readings will subsequently be managed by a remote monitoring health database solution provided by Health Connect. In addition to having health data uploaded on the database, residents will also have the option of a print out.
A key benefit of this service is that residents are now able to keep a health history that is accessible to both their doctors and family as health information can be easily retrieved through the portal.
”NCS is proud to lead this project. We believe this project will be one that directly touches the lives of the community. By deploying IT directly to people who need it the most, Paya Lebar Online can connect and foster closer ties between the business community and the residents”, said Dr. Chong Yoke Sin, chief operating officer, NCS.
The project, slated to be completed by July 2005 will be have an initial 700 users on the system. It will be opened to the whole of Paya Lebar depending on the success of the project.
