EMC Proven Status For Storage Centrix™

Singapore, June 4, 2001

Leading Regional IT Service Provider's Storage-On-Demand Service Joins the Ranks of EMC Proven Elite.

EMC Corporation, the world leader in information storage, today announced that Storage Centrix, National Computer Systems' (NCS) storage-on-demand service, has achieved EMC Proven status.

Storage Centrix joins the ranks of an elite group of 200 companies worldwide, including Navisite, Exodus, Barnes & Noble.com and Level-3 Communications. Storage Centrix has achieved Tier 3 certification, alongside local companies like DBS Securities.

Launched by EMC in the United States in October 1999, the EMC Proven Programme certifies partners and businesses that attained a requisite level of standardization and invested in best practices for their information infrastructure.

EMC Proven certification signifies that Storage Centrix IT infrastructure has passed a rigorous review of its ability to support the operational needs of a 24x7 Internet-based business or service at peak efficiency, to adapt to a constantly changing business climate and to manage Internet-driven information growth.

Paul Rath, General Manager, EMC South Asia said, "The EMC Proven Programme recognises NCS' Storage Centrix service as being among the most well-prepared Internet-based services. The Internet runs at an unforgiving pace. Any stumble or misstep is quickly translated into lost market share, revenue and market valuation. To avoid the pain of downtime, internet-based businesses have made EMC's information storage systems, software and services the cornerstone of their E-Infostructure."

A wholly owned subsidiary of the Singapore Telecom Group, NCS is known regionally as a leading IT service provider. NCS has also partnered EMC since November 2000 to deliver E-infostructure. E-Infostructure is a mission critical storage infrastructure, for companies in the South Asia region. It is this storage infrastructure that backs the Storage Centrix service.

Rath said, "EMC and NCS have formed several successful partnerships. Apart from our partnership delivering E-infostructure, NCS was also the first Value-Added Systems Integrator (VASI) for EMC in South Asia to be certified on EMC's Enterprise Storage Assessment™ methodology. This certification has enabled NCS to conduct complex storage infrastructure studies, design and implementation techniques for organisations that require it. Their expertise goes beyond delivering storage on demand services, to understanding and providing solutions for complex IT infrastructures. NCS is therefore well-positioned to enable customers in today's fast-changing business environment, to meet the next trend of IT services."

Lau Soon Liang, Assistant Chief Executive at NCS, said, "NCS is committed to meeting the information storage requirements of companies faced with rapid e-commerce expansion. We are aware of how important it is to meet a customer's high standards."

"When a customer outsources its business processes, they want to know that the chosen service provider is reliable from the outset and will not just compensate for failures after the fact. A guarantee clause in a service-level agreement simply is not enough for businesses today," he added. "By leveraging best of breed EMC hardware and software, Storage Centrix customers can be confident that our infrastructure is constantly available whenever it's needed. Therefore, customers can focus on their core business and gain the competitive edge they require."
